What we do with your details
We ask for what we need to collect you and get you where you are going, and we use it for that. This page says exactly what that is.
Who we are
SXM Prestige is Gerel and his son Wedson, a family transport business based at the Philipsburg cruise terminal on St. Maarten. We decide what is collected on this site and what happens to it.
To ask anything about your details, message us on WhatsApp or call +1 (721) 527-5612, or use the contact form.
What we collect
When you book a transfer: your name and mobile number, your email if you give it, and whether we may reach you on WhatsApp. Then the trip itself: where we collect you and where you are going (a villa or hotel address, if that is where), the date and time, how many people, cases and child seats, your flight number or ship, and anything you add in the notes.
When you send us a message or a request: your name, your email or phone number, what you write, and which page of this site you were on. If you arrived from another website, we record only that you came from outside, never that site's address.
When you leave a review: your first name, your star rating and what you write. We read each review before it appears on the website, and it appears with your first name only. We do not ask for your email or phone number on the review form. If you choose to post the same review on Google, Facebook or TripAdvisor, that is your own account on their site and their rules apply.
When you request an event package:
- the lead guest's name, email and mobile number, and whether that number is on WhatsApp;
- the full name of every traveller, as it appears on their passport, because the hotel needs it for the rooms;
- the rooms you chose, and your flights and notes if you give them;
- the time you ticked the box agreeing to the seller's terms and this notice.
We never ask for dates of birth or passport numbers. Nothing is paid on this site, so we never see or store card details.
What we use it for
To collect you, drive you, and keep you informed about that trip. To answer your message. For an event package, to pass your request to the partners who sell and host it.
We contact you about your booking or request and nothing else.
Who sees it
- Gerel and Wedson, and the person who builds and runs this website for us, who can see the data in order to keep the site working.
- For an event package, the seller named on the event page (for Carnival 2027, Pearl of St Maarten). The seller receives your contact details, flights, notes and room choices by email. Travellers' passport names are never put in an email. The seller and the hotel receive the names they need to book your rooms.
- The services this site runs on:
- SparkPost, which delivers our emails;
- Hostwinds, which hosts the website and its database;
- OpenStreetMap, whose map appears on the tracking page. Your browser loads the map directly from them, which means they see your internet address, as with any website you visit.
- Google Analytics, but only if you accept the cookie banner. See "Cookies and your browser" below.
- WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there. Those conversations are covered by WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
Nobody else, and nobody who wants to sell you something.
The tracking link
After you book, you get a private link showing your trip's status and, while the driver is on the way and during the trip, where the van is. The position comes from the driver's phone. We record it only while the driver is on a trip, and we delete that history after 30 days.
Anyone with the link can see it, so share it only with the people you are travelling with. It stops working 24 hours after the trip ends.
Cookies and your browser
This site has no advertising cookies.
When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and records which pages you view, how you arrived (a search, a link, an advert), roughly where you are (country and city, from your internet address) and what kind of device and browser you use. We see that only as totals and trends; we use it to learn which pages help people and which do not. It is not linked to your booking, your name or your phone number, and Google is told not to use it for advertising. Google processes it on its own servers, which may be outside your country, and deletes it after 14 months.
If you decline, or never answer, the analytics code is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google. Your answer is remembered in this browser. To change it, use "Cookie settings" at the foot of any page; declining after accepting removes the Google Analytics cookies.
Separately from Google, the site keeps its own count of the pages opened, whatever you answer to the banner. It sets no cookie and does not store your internet address or browser name. Each page opened is recorded as the page, the site or search you came from (the site only, never the full address), any campaign label on the link, your language and whether you are on a phone or a computer. It also holds a code made by scrambling your internet address and browser name with a secret key together with the date; the code changes every day at midnight island time, so it can tell that several pages were one visit but not who you are, or that you were here yesterday. When you send us a message or a request, we use that code to note how you reached the site (for example "a search, landing on the Maho Beach page") and store that note with your message, so we can see which pages bring enquiries. Visitors who are signed in as staff, and anyone whose browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", are not counted. Search engines and other automated visitors are counted separately and kept for 30 days; the rest is kept for just over a year.
Pages with a form set one cookie that stops anyone from sending a form in your name from another website. The booking form keeps your answers in your browser tab while you fill it in, so reloading the page does not lose them. They go when you close the tab. Apart from those and the analytics cookies above, the only other cookies are the sign-in cookies for our own staff and drivers.
How long we keep it
We keep bookings, messages, requests and reviews so that we can look back at a trip if you ask about it later, and for our accounts. We do not yet delete them on a fixed schedule. Until we do, ask us and we will delete your details, apart from anything we are required to keep for our accounts.
Event package requests are different. A set time after each event ends (twelve months, unless we tell you otherwise when you book), the travellers' names, the lead guest's name, email and phone number, the flights and any notes are removed automatically: from the request, and from the airport transfers booked for it. What stays is the request itself, with its rooms, prices and dates and no one's name on it, so that we can see how each event went.
Driver location history is deleted after 30 days, as described above. Our own page count is deleted after just over a year, as described under cookies. Google Analytics data, if you accepted it, is deleted by Google after 14 months.
What you can ask us
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to correct them, or to delete them. Use the contact details at the top of this page and tell us the name and phone number or email you used, so we can find them.
If you would rather we did not use WhatsApp, untick the WhatsApp box when you book, or just tell us.
Changes
If we change what we collect or who sees it, we will update this page and the date below the heading.
Questions people actually ask
Do you sell or share my details for advertising?
No. We do not sell your details, we do not send newsletters, and there is no advertising on this site. If you say yes to the cookie banner, Google Analytics counts your visit; if you say no, Google gets nothing. We also keep our own anonymous count of pages opened, with no cookie and nothing that identifies you (see "Cookies and your browser"). Your details go only to the people and services listed on this page, for your trip or your request.
Do you track my location?
No. The tracking link shows where the driver is, from the driver's phone, and only while your trip is under way. Your own location is never asked for or recorded.
How do I have my details deleted?
Ask us on WhatsApp or through the contact form, and tell us the name and phone number or email you used. We will delete them, apart from anything we have to keep for our accounts, and tell you when it is done.
